hogmanay party'2020

we're two months in 2021 and the whole world is in a cliffhanger (riiiight...) to know what i've been up to. not much, actually, just trying to make some stuff, fixing some things... well, that's not entirely true, many big changes happened, so here is a long(ish) update

back in november, i moved to a new flat - 3rd time in a year.... - so things got hectic. again. until the end of the year i was still moving things around, trying to rebuild my routines, picking new habits, and setting off to a new life alone. i had plans to put many stuff online, make music theory videos, but it all came to a screeching halt because of that change. finally, in the end of the year, things were looking like they could be sort of normal. well, the new "new" normal, if you want. i don't know what "normal" normal is anymore.

and the new normal, at least, allowed me to participate in the last demoparty of the year. Hogmanay Party was awesome, as it allowed to ease ourselves in the new year without that slumber feeling of being alone. for those who don't know - i didn't - Hogmanay is the scottish word for the last day of the year and also the new year's eve party. i managed to make some music for it, which after the november/december hiatus that followed the much fertile month of october, was very welcomed.

kiss my johnson was my attempt to make a "big beat" track. yes, i had to google what big beat was. and i don't think i've succeeded in making a typical big beat tune. i would say my main inspiration was fat boy slim's "praise you", with the obvious piano and sampled singing. because of brexit, i had to make some kind of political statement, so if you feel triggered, good. :) also, i hope the färjan joke in the middle of my tracks stops here. i think it's the third track in 4 months... but it was a nice background for the Queen's speech.

demoscene 2020 highlights, a nice flashback of last year's productions by ps. he invited me to play on the piano snippets from the productions, but in order to qualify to the compo we had to keep it under the 10 minutes. yeah, it's a bit rushed, but it was so much fun to do it. i hope i can convince him to do this every year. we got very nice reviews from it, so i hope he takes that into consideration.

i've also participated in the jingle compo and the unofficial 666 bpm music compo, both lots of fun. the party had a great demo by limp ninja and the awesome invitation for onScene, featuring the lovable Kevin. check the party prods at demozoo.
